There’s been a lot of news lately suggesting that property investing in small super funds is boosting prices for everyone else. But according to Dan Butler, Director, DBA Lawyers, while the figures do indicate investment in property by super funds, they haven’t increased markedly in the past eight years, with property assets rising from only 12 to 15 per cent. Dan says when we look at the breakdown of investments in self managed funds, residential property only constitutes about 3-4% of the 15% segment of self managed funds’ investment in property, while commercial property occupies the greatest segment of 12%.
